How people view themselves others and the worlds around them. he notes how some individuals take advantage of the fact that they can be anyone or anything that they wish in secondlife and it be ok. The issue of gender is talked about as sort a “however you choose” approach becuase of the fact that u cant tell who is what unless they tell you something honestly. The authors speaks on the notion that individuals know the difference between virtural reality and actual reality and feels they really use this aspect. He speaks on how some people use this to enhance what they feel thier life should be while others use it to create a totally different reality they only they and the friends they show know about. The author next talks about peoples attachment to thier avatars. the connection people have with their avatars seem to be sometimes intimate becuase of how much people identify with how they want to represent themselves. he speaks on how so much activity in secondlife is centered on avatars. whether it is to modify appearance or the wellbeing of the avatars the importance was highly regarded.
